I’m an assistant professor of English at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. I teach courses in children’s and young adult literature, Victorian and neo-Victorian literature, popular literature, and film, as well as first-year writing and Self and Society.

In addition to my work in the Department of English and Linguistics, I’m chair of the Child Studies Minor and a member of the Film Studies and the Children’s Literature Festival planning committee. I’m also co-sponsor of our chapter of Sigma Tau Delta.

My current research projects investigate depictions of the girl detective in neo-Victorian young adult literature and narrative strategies in young adult literature about mental health disorders.
