I’m an assistant professor of English at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. I teach courses in children’s and young adult literature, Victorian and neo-Victorian literature, popular literature, and film, as well as first-year writing and Self and Society.
In addition to my work in the Department of English and Linguistics, I’m chair of the Child Studies Minor and a member of the Film Studies and the Children’s Literature Festival planning committee. I’m also sponsor of our chapter of Sigma Tau Delta.
My current research projects investigate depictions of the girl detective in neo-Victorian young adult literature and narrative strategies in young adult literature about mental health disorders.
